A Give & Grub milestone: 150,000 meals given
Laser Spine Institute launched the Give & Grub food truck this time last year with the goal of providing meals to families in need in the Tampa Bay community. Our mission: to deliver 150,000 meals to hungry children and families in the Tampa Bay area by donating one meal for every meal purchased at the food truck and use of #GiveAndGrub on social media.
On Friday, Oct. 30, Laser Spine Institute celebrated this special moment and the end of a tremendous inaugural year for the Give & Grub food truck at Tampa’s Palm River Elementary. We were honored to have our partners at Feeding Tampa Bay and the Tampa Bay Lightning, including Lightning players Ryan Callahan and Vlad Namestnikov, along with more than 500 students from the school, join us to celebrate the past year and kick-off year two.
Right there on the playground, Laser Spine Institute pledged our commitment to continue the givebacks, with distributions set to take place every other week at Palm River. Through our partnership with the Lightning, we also were able to secure Palm River a spot in the organization’s community hockey program. Kids in 4th and 5th grade took part in a 50-minute hockey training session and game, with ALL kids in the school receiving a hockey stick, roller hockey ball and a voucher for a buy one, get one ticket to an upcoming Lightning game. In addition, the school received 40 hockey sticks, two nets, balls, four sets of goalie pads and jerseys for their own equipment supply, so that they can continue playing hockey in PE class.
